Medicare Supplement

Seniors age 65 and over will need supplemental health insurance to pay for expenses not covered by Medicare. There are different types of health insurance coverages that provide a supplement to your Medicare coverage. Supplemental insurance pays for some or all of your health care costs that are not covered by Medicare.

Medicare Supplement
Medicare supplement insurance policies are sold by private insurance companies to pay for charges not fully paid by medicare. Wisconsin requires all medicare policies to provide basic coverage and 5 optional riders. They are Part A deductible, additional home health care, Part B excess charges, Part B deductible and foreign travel rider.

Medicare SELECT
A type of Medigap policy that must meet all of the requirements that apply to a standard Medigap policy. You may be required to use doctors and hospitals within its network in order to be eligible for full benefits.

Managed Care Plans
A Managed Care plan involves a group of doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers who have agreed to provide care to Medicare beneficiaries in exchange for a fixed amount of money from Medicare every month. Wisconsin Managed Care plans include Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), HMOs with a Point of Service (POS) option, Provider Sponsored Organizations (PSOs), Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), and Cost Plans.

Short Term Medical

Our Temporary Health Insurance policy offers coverage for 30-365 days. If your temporary insurance needs run longer than 365 days, you may be able to renew the plan.

Temporary Health Insurance policies have benefit limits and you'll be required to cover an initial deductible and to make co-payments. You're allowed to pick your own doctors, hospitals, or other health-care providers. Temporary Health Insurance offers coverage for doctors, inpatient and outpatient services, lab work and X rays. No physical exam is required and your temporary health care insurance coverage begins as soon as the insurer receives your application and first premium payment. You will need to answer several limited underwriting questions to qualify.

Temporary Health Insurance Limitations
Temporary Health Insurance plans normally have a lower level of benefits in comparison to permanent plans such as Major Medical or HMO plans. Temporary Health Insurance usually will not cover treatment of a pre-existing conditions, such as an illness or injury that has produced symptoms or for which you've received previous treatment. Also, our Temporary Health Insurance does not cover routine medical exams, preventive care, optical care, dental care, or pregnancy and childbirth expenses.

These insurance coverage limitations reduce the cost for a Temporary or Short Term Health Insurance policy, thus making it affordable for more people to purchase reliable health insurance coverage for short term needs.
